Knitting and sewing...

I've said it before and I'll say it again, I am NOT a seamstress. However, I was going to buy a secondary pouch sling for my little one since I found a hole in my Maya Wrap ring sling a couple of nights ago. Then I thought about it for a moment. Why buy one? I bet if I Google it, I can find a pattern. I happen to be a very determined person. Once I set my mind to something, it's going to happen.

So I go a Googling... Wouldn't ya know it?! A pattern! For free!! Hello, sexy. I wrote it down in detail and proceeded to Walmart this morning (probably at time of posting, yesterday morning) to look for some suitable fabric. Boy, did I find it. For just $1.50 per yard, I found the prettiest, most perfect fabric.

Since, it has been pre-washed and cut to size, now all it needs is a few seams and it will be a new pouch sling.

Knitting:
Ugh! Working on a few things right now. Just washed my first pair of baby socks. Pleasantly surprised by the outcome of washing. They went in very stiff and scratchy and came out soft. Always a good thing.

Also, spiral blanket is taking FOREVER!!! I'm up to 230 stitches, but having tpo increase by 10 stitches every other row is a bit maddening. Will keep ya updated.

The new knit baby dress has a few mistakes, but overall is looking nice. I'm only halfway down the bodice portion right now, but it shouldn't take too long since I'm making the skirt portion a YO mesh. The pattern's in my head, I havent't written it down. I know that's bad, but you'll have to trust me. I *think* I know what I'm doing. LOL

That's about it for now...

Necessity is also the mother of motivation...

So the baby's new bed did arrive as planned, and is adorable. It does have a few spots where the fabric appears to have tiny tears in it. Fabric glue to the rescue! Now, the old style I had was the standard size play yard and the Graco pack n' play sheets did fit it, but this is much smaller. They do sell sheets for this model (Graco Travelite crib) but they are $8 each!! Ouch!

What is a mommy to do when she doesn't want her baby sleeping on the naked pad? Go out and buy some cheap Walmart fabric, study the design of the pack n' play sheets very well and make her own, of course. Duh! So that's exactly what I did.

We now have 5 brand new sheets for the baby's new bed. I feel so accomplished, I actually did something. Yay! So here's the rundown.... Graco brand sheets for the travelite crib are $8 each. I bought 5 yards of $1.50 fabric ($7.50) and one spool of decent thread ($1.96) and made 5 sheets for just a fraction more than the cost of one pre-fab. Go me!

Shown below is one of 5 new sheets. Two have stripes in this direction, two in the other direction and one is in a different fabric. ?(White with blue elephants.)

Here's where I like to shout, "Score one for the little guy!"

A new bed for baby

I told you about the refund. Well, they sent it to me as promised. It came early, I'm surprised! Although I did get it around 5:30 PM on Friday, way too late to attempt to take it to the bank.

The new baby bed (Graco Travel Lite Crib) will be purchased from Amazon.com. But before it is ordered, the check needs to clear and funds must be available. Then it's about waiting on the shipping. At this point, I just want this nightmare to be over. I highly doubt I will recommend any big ticket Fisher-Price baby items anymore. I should have gone with Graco to begin with. We'll consider this lesson learned, the hard way.
